Round 3 - Doublin Gap

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

It was another great weekend packed with excellent racing, good food and finally some sun. It was actually nice to see some dust for a change. I might re-think that statement as the year progresses but for right now I have had enough mud.

Saturday, practice day, turned out gloomy and quite chilly, but I did not hear any complaints from our riders. All riders received ample practice time and the track was in excellent condition. We would like to thank the Yentzer’s for supplying us with an upfront team spot where WMX Motorsports was doing its thing; vending parts and providing tire changes. We also had an addition to the team – Sarah’s X-treme Snacks providing all the essential treats for our sweet tooth. John was again kept busy with suspension changes, brakes jobs and even had a visit from UPS with parts for our supermini bike, which enable him to finish the topend job. The grill-master, John served up some mighty fine chicken at our annual chicken barbeque dinner and all the moms came through with scrumptious side dishes and desserts for all. Some of the team retired to the Mosier coach to watch Supercross which was on and off due to the rainstorm. It rained through the night, but when we awoke, Sunday was sunny. Yeah!

Sunday racing was filled with holeshots from Lupey and Thompson, with the rest of the riders providing many good overall finishes. Daryn Thompson finished 2nd overall in Supermini and 3rd overall in 85B. Mike Lupey came in 4th overall in Plus 30C and 7th overall in Senior B. Kevin “Zach” Stoner took a 5th in 85B while Jake Runkles had a 4th overall in 65B and a 5th overall in 85B. Stan Bolen took a 5th overall in Schoolboy, with Kevin Stoner, Dave Mosier, and Chris Heinlein all taking a 9th overall in their respective classes. Rounding out the riders in the top ten positions is Jon Braun in coming in 10th overall in 85C. Even though the track got extremely rough and dusty our riders all hung tough. Congratulations to all!

We would like to send our prays out to the riders, who suffered an injury over the past weekend and hope they have a speedy recovery.

Hope to see you all at Pleasure Valley Raceway this coming Friday.
